CanmetENERGY Ottawa, Natural Resources Canada’s leading clean energy research and technology development centre. Through its science, innovation, and collaboration activities, CanmetENERGY supports the advancement of low-carbon energy systems and technologies that contribute to Canada’s transition to a sustainable and competitive bioeconomy.

During the visit, participants will learn about CanmetENERGY’s Bioenergy Program, which focuses on advancing sustainable biomass utilization, bioenergy systems, bioproducts, and emerging pathways for converting forest and agricultural biomass into renewable energy and value-added products. The program works closely with industry, Indigenous communities, governments, and research organizations to develop and demonstrate technologies that support Canada’s clean energy and forest-sector objectives.

The tour will provide an opportunity to explore CanmetENERGY’s research facilities, learn about ongoing bioenergy and biomass conversion projects, and discuss the role of innovation in supporting Indigenous participation and leadership in the growing bioeconomy.
